Mauricio Pochettino, the Chelsea manager, is pleased with Mykhailo Mudryk’s recent performance but recognizes the need for further improvement if Mudryk is to reach his full potential and become a superstar. Mudryk, the Ukrainian player, is currently in his best form since joining Chelsea in West London, and he recently scored his first goal of the season in an impressive manner against Arsenal.
Despite his outstanding performance against the Gunners and his international goal for his country during the recent break, Pochettino pointed out that Mudryk still has room for improvement. Pochettino expressed, “I believe he’s playing well, but there is still room for improvement. He appeared to run out of energy on Saturday night.”
Pochettino mentioned the need for a tactical change during the match and the importance of maintaining pressure on the opposition. He said, “We needed to make adjustments to put more pressure on Nicolas Jackson up front. After that alteration, we created several opportunities, and the game felt closer to a 3-0 result rather than a 2-1. The chances, especially from Cole Palmer and Nico, demonstrated our intention to maintain pressure and not just protect the lead.”
Despite conceding a late goal after making substitutions, Pochettino acknowledged that such situations can occur in football. He praised the team’s character and performance, emphasizing the positive aspects of their display.
Mudryk’s current performance levels are strong, but there is a tendency for his performance to drop somewhat in the early stages of the second half, which is an area he needs to address.
