Sunderland name price for 22-year-old ‘diamond’ Brentford Top target on ‘red alert’ for January move

According to Alan Nixon, Brentford is closely monitoring the situation with Jack Clarke due to a deadlock in contract negotiations between the player and the club. Sunderland is offering Clarke a salary increase and is looking to include a significant sell-on clause in any potential agreement.

Sunderland has made efforts to extend Jack Clarke’s contract by offering him a higher salary, but it appears that the offer isn’t substantial enough to convince the 22-year-old to stay, as he believes he can secure a more lucrative deal in the Premier League.

Sunderland is reportedly seeking £20 million upfront for the winger, and finalizing the deal seems to be a complex and challenging process.

Brentford, on the other hand, is willing to make a bid of approximately £15 million for Clarke, while Burnley, another Premier League team, had their previous offers for him rejected during the summer transfer window.

Losing Jack Clarke would be a significant setback for Manager Tony Mowbray, who has previously described him as a valuable asset. Clarke has been the primary source of goals for the team this season, having scored nine goals in 15 games, already matching his goal tally for the entire previous season. He is also the leading scorer in the Championship this season, which has been crucial for Sunderland, as their strikers have struggled to score.

Mowbray has recently attributed their difficulties in picking up points to the lack of experience among their strikers, citing this as a reason for their inability to score, as demonstrated in the goalless draw against Swansea.
