Saman Ghoddos secured the October 2023 Budweiser Goal of the Month with a remarkable half-volley during Brentford’s 3-0 victory over Burnley. In this exceptional play, the 30-year-old midfielder skillfully controlled a headed clearance from Burnley’s Dara O’Shea before unleashing a powerful shot from 25 yards that found the top-right corner of the net.
This accolade makes Ghoddos only the second Brentford player to receive the award, following Ivan Toney’s win for a magnificent chip against Leeds United in September 2022. Additionally, Ghoddos joins the ranks of Iranian footballers who have claimed this honor, with Alireza Jahanbakhsh having previously achieved it for Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2020.
The selection of Ghoddos’ goal was the result of a combination of expert opinions and a public vote, triumphing over seven other contenders, including his teammate Bryan Mbeumo, whose submission for the award also came from the same match.
