West Brom now set to sign 22-years-old brilliant star ahead of January transfer window

The publication, through its website on November 18, suggested that the “assist king” of League One might become a target for a transfer in the upcoming year, with West Bromwich Albion being one of several clubs expressing interest.

With six goals and six assists in the current league season, the 22-year-old Poku has attracted attention from clubs such as Sunderland, Ipswich, Stoke, and Millwall. Capable of playing in the central position or on either flank, Poku has displayed impressive form in the third tier this season, following a performance of four goals and 11 assists in the previous term.

Despite the uncertainty of signing a player from a lower league, there is growing belief that the Ghanaian international is poised for a higher-level challenge. West Brom previously signed Brandon Thomas-Asante from the fourth tier last season, and he has proven to be a valuable addition to the team.

The specific asking price for Poku remains undisclosed, and the interest from numerous Championship clubs could potentially drive the price higher than it would have been otherwise. West Brom’s ability to compete for such coveted signings in the winter transfer window may hinge on the progress of a takeover.

While a change in ownership is anticipated to significantly impact the club’s ability to secure midseason targets, there is no guarantee that the process will be completed in time. Consequently, manager Carlos Corberan might need to rely on the return of injured players within the squad to strengthen The Hawthorns’ ranks, aiming to sustain a robust push for a playoff spot this season.
