The Washington Commanders have had a disappointing season, prompting discussions about potential changes within the team. Following their 31-19 loss to the New York Giants, in which they committed six turnovers, the Commanders, now 4-7, have lost four of their last five games and were swept by the 3-8 Giants.
According to a report, changes within the team might occur during the off week. ESPN reporter Jeremy Fowler, speaking before “Monday Night Football,” suggested that if the new ownership group wants to make coaching changes, it is likely to happen in Week 14.
As the Commanders head into Week 12 against Dallas on Thanksgiving and host the Dolphins the following week, they will have a break in Week 14, potentially holding a 4-9 record. This is when head coach Ron Rivera and defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio might face job concerns.
Rivera, in his fourth season with a 26-34-1 record, won the division with a 7-9 record in his first season. Del Rio is in his fourth season as the team’s defensive coordinator. The Commanders have already traded away key defensive players, suggesting a recognition that winning this season may not be the top priority. Currently, the focus is on assessing the abilities of second-year quarterback Sam Howell.
