Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper is eager for his team to leave a mark in the upcoming match against Brighton. Despite a decent start to the season, securing 13 points from their initial 12 games, Cooper believes they could have performed even better, citing their recent 3-2 loss to West Ham as evidence. Reflecting on missed opportunities, he expressed the desire for improvement while acknowledging their progress compared to the previous season when they were at the bottom of the league.
Cooper is focused on maintaining the team’s motivation and continuous improvement. However, he cautions against getting too carried away and losing sight of their journey. Acknowledging Brighton’s strengths, he aims for Forest to be the primary influence in the game, emphasizing the need to stick to their principles to achieve their goals.
Regarding team news, Cooper revealed that striker Taiwo Awoniyi will be sidelined for “months” due to a groin injury, while Anthony Elanga, Murillo, and Danilo are doubtful. Elanga, recovering from a medial knee injury, is progressing well and back in training. Murillo faced a setback with his hamstring at West Ham, and Danilo suffered an ankle sprain. Callum Hudson-Odoi is on the verge of returning to training after the final stages of rehab, with Cooper expressing a focus on available players and support for the injured ones without seeking excuses.
