Newcastle United are waiting for the green light to sign Juventus winger Matias Soule after discussions with their director Cristiano Giuntoli just a few days ago.

Rumors regarding Newcastle’s interest in Soule surfaced after Giuntoli’s return from a London trip where he was promoting two young talents to English clubs. According to a report from JuveLive.it, Newcastle is poised to finalize the signing in January pending approval from Giuntoli.

Amid Juventus’ financial struggles, Giuntoli aims to generate funds for the January transfer window and Serie A contention by selling promising young players. Soule, recognized as an ‘excellent’ talent at Juventus following a successful loan spell at Frosinone, is set to be transferred for approximately £21m, with Newcastle eagerly awaiting confirmation from the Juventus director.

Newcastle is prepared to proceed with Soule’s acquisition, contingent on a nod from Giuntoli. The 20-year-old winger is seen as a valuable addition to Eddie Howe’s team, especially considering the team’s recent injuries to key players in wide positions, such as Harvey Barnes and Jacob Murphy.

However, Newcastle faces competition, as both Crystal Palace and Newcastle engaged in discussions with Giuntoli during his England trip. Palace has inquired about Soule’s availability, potentially as a strategic move to prepare for the uncertain futures of Ebereche Eze and Michael Olise, key players for the club. The interest from Palace provides Soule with alternative options, adding complexity to his decision-making process despite Newcastle’s strong pursuit in January.
