Director says Wolves offer for player was ‘inadmissible and insulting’ – Clearly still annoyed about it
Wolverhampton Wanderers supporters are likely familiar with their club’s attempt to sign Boulaye Dia from Salernitana in the final days of the summer transfer window. Gary O’Neil sought to strengthen his squad at Molineux and saw the Senegal international as a suitable addition.
However, Salernitana rejected the proposed loan deal with an option to buy, leading to a commentary from their director of football, Morgan De Sanctis, in a recent interview with Corriere dello Sport. Dia expressed dissatisfaction after the late window developments, temporarily disappearing and subsequently facing fines from his club. He eventually returned with some injuries complicating matters.
As a result of these events, Dia has not replicated his form from the previous season. Some, including Corriere dello Sport, are questioning whether Salernitana made the right decision by not allowing the player to join Wolves. De Sanctis responded, stating that in hindsight, it might seem so. He pointed out that Dia was their top striker, trailing only Osimhen and Lautaro Martinez in goals last season. De Sanctis expressed strong opinions, indicating lingering resentment over Wolves’ actions during the summer transfer window.
