Crystal Palace now want £9m striker Zidane compared to Raul, only Bellingham has more La Liga goals this term
Crystal Palace has identified the need for improvement in their attacking department this season, particularly upfront. The team has faced challenges in scoring, with Jean-Philippe Mateta’s recent struggles and the belief that even though Odsonne Edouard has performed well, Palace requires a higher caliber striker.
Despite having talented players like Michael Olise, Mateta seems inclined to leave the team in January. Recent reports suggest that Crystal Palace is expressing a strong interest in acquiring the services of La Liga standout Borja Mayoral. According to TeamTalk, the club is actively pursuing the signature of Mayoral, a prolific La Liga striker who has netted 12 goals this season.
Mayoral has been in impressive form for Getafe, where he plays alongside Mason Greenwood, a loanee from Manchester United. His goal-scoring prowess has not gone unnoticed, with both Fulham and Crystal Palace expressing interest in acquiring him.
The striker, who moved to Getafe for £9 million from Real Madrid in 2022, was once considered an exciting prospect at his former club. Interestingly, there were reports in 2021 indicating that Palace had an interest in signing him. Zinedine Zidane, the legendary former Real Madrid player and manager, recently praised Mayoral, drawing comparisons between the striker and Real Madrid icon Raul.
