To address the goalie shortage, the team signed Michael Hutchinson to a two-way contract on Tuesday, promoting him from Grand Rapids to serve as backup for James Reimer tonight. Additionally, Alex Lyon is sidelined, and Coach Derek Lalonde doesn’t anticipate his return until after Christmas. Lalonde expressed the unavailability of Ville for an extended period, characterizing it as a week-to-week situation, and mentioned that while Alex had his first workout, he won’t be ready until post-Christmas.

Klim Kostin is also on injured reserve, making way for Austin Czarnik, who has already participated in 15 games this season, to fill the void.
Meanwhile, the reunion of Alex DeBrincat and Patrick Kane in Detroit is proving successful after their five-season stint together in Chicago.
Regarding David Perron, Lalonde mentioned that despite his suspension hearing with the NHL on Tuesday, there is a possibility of him being available for the team today. Lalonde acknowledged Perron’s significance, especially given the simultaneous absence of two top-six players and power play contributors due to the same incident.
Lalonde addressed Dylan Larkin’s concerns about player safety, emphasizing the team’s need to adapt better in Larkin’s absence. He acknowledged the team’s struggles in handling the absence of their top two centers and stressed the importance of moving forward quickly despite the frustrations shared by Larkin and the coaching staff.
