Celtic hero Sutton insists Rodgers is ‘going through the motions’
The Hoops recently experienced back-to-back losses in league games, marking the first time such a streak has occurred in over a decade. Consequently, their lead at the summit of the Scottish Premiership has narrowed to just two points.
Sutton, not mincing his words, offered a candid assessment of Celtic’s current season on the It’s All Kicking Off podcast. He remarked, “Presently, this Celtic team appears disjointed and merely going through the motions. There’s a valid argument to propose that Brendan Rodgers has been similarly uninspired throughout this season.”
Sutton also raised a pertinent question about Rodgers’ post-Hearts game comments, where the manager highlighted a lack of passion and desire among the players. Sutton questioned whether it is now Rodgers’ responsibility to field a motivated team, asserting that the manager must shoulder a greater share of the blame and assume more significant responsibility.
Amidst controversies involving the board and certain supporters being barred from the stadium, Sutton acknowledged these challenges but emphasized that, regardless of external factors, the team has not delivered the expected performance on the field this season.
