The Buffalo Bills seem poised to bring running back Leonard Fournette into action for their Week 16 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers, as reported by an anonymous source via NFL Network/NFL.com National Insider Ian Rapoport.
While Fournette has traditionally been associated with playoff football, the Bills are eager to assess his contributions in what essentially amounts to an extended playoff phase for One Bills Drive.
As per Rapoport’s tweet, Fournette is set to provide depth behind the standout James Cook. Having signed the 28-year-old Fournette to their practice squad on October 31, there has been anticipation among Bills Mafia about when he would finally see action on game day.
Splitting his six seasons evenly between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Fournette has accumulated 1,132 carries for 4,478 yards, recording 34 rushing touchdowns and four fumbles. Additionally, he has made 312 receptions (on 388 targets) for 2,219 yards, including seven touchdown receptions.
While Fournette’s most productive seasons were early in his career with the Jaguars, he continued to showcase strong performances with the Buccaneers, emerging as a key contributor during their playoff runs.
