sDarius Slay among 3 key Eagles defenders out vs Giants

After experiencing a three-game losing streak, Philadelphia is set to face the New York Giants without three essential defenders, as reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Wide receiver Devonta Smith, however, is cleared from the injury list and ready for Monday’s game. Unfortunately, cornerback Avonte Maddox and Darius Slay, along with linebacker Zach Cunningham, have been ruled out due to injuries.

In the 12 games he played this season for the Eagles, Slay has accumulated 57 tackles and two interceptions. Maddox contributed eight tackles and a forced fumble, while Cunningham boasts 80 tackles and a fumble recovery.

Despite the defensive setbacks, there’s a positive note for the Eagles with Devonta Smith’s assurance that he will be on the field for the Christmas Day matchup against the Giants. Smith expressed confidence, stating, “You know me – I’ll be good. I’ll be out there.”

This comes as a relief for Philadelphia, especially amid their struggles with a three-game losing streak and offensive challenges. The Eagles’ offense has faced criticism for its inability to keep pace with teams like the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys, leading to setbacks against the Seahawks.

With quarterback Jalen Hurts throwing for under 200 yards in the past two games, the Eagles will heavily rely on their key receivers to rejuvenate their offensive performance and aim to secure a victory against the New York Giants on Christmas Day.
