Raymond Woodie III, a former defensive back at Florida State and California, has made the decision to complete his college football career at Bethune-Cookman University. His commitment to B-CU is notable as his father, Raymond Woodie Jr., holds the position of head coach at the university.
Woodie showcased his versatility as a two-way player during his high school years, navigating through three different schools in Tampa, Oregon, and Tallahassee, Florida. His skills extended to playing quarterback and receiver in addition to his primary position as a defensive back. Recognized as a four-star prospect in the 2019 class by ESPN and Rivals, Woodie garnered interest from schools such as Louisville, Stanford, and Ole Miss.
Beginning his college career at Florida State, Woodie accumulated impressive stats, including 34 tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, one pass breakup, one pass defended, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 19 games. His father served as the linebackers coach during his initial year in 2019 before moving to Florida Atlantic with Willie Taggart. After the 2020 season, Woodie entered the transfer portal and subsequently joined the California football program.
During his three seasons at Cal, Woodie contributed with 23 tackles and one fumble recovery. Now, as a graduate transfer, he is set to return to Florida and reunite with his father at Bethune-Cookman, marking the next chapter in his collegiate football journey.
