LSU is set to add Missouri’s defensive line coach, Kevin Peoples, as an assistant coach, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel. Peoples becomes the second member of Missouri’s coaching staff to make the move to LSU, following former defensive coordinator Blake Baker’s appointment on January 5.
A seasoned coach with 29 years of experience, Peoples joined Missouri in January 2022 after stints at Indiana, Tulane, Georgia Southern, UAB, Arkansas, Arkansas State, Northwestern State, the Las Vegas Outlaws, Northern Arizona, Central Missouri, and Blinn College.
Peoples played a crucial role in Missouri’s successful season, contributing to their Cotton Bowl victory with an impressive defensive performance. Under his guidance, Missouri ranked third in the SEC for sacks (39) and led the conference in fumble recoveries (10).
Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz praised Peoples and fellow defensive line coach Al Davis for their impact on both in-game performance and recruiting. Peoples’ influence is further evident in four defensive linemen (and counting) declaring for the 2024 NFL Draft under his guidance.
With Peoples leaving for LSU, Drinkwitz faces the challenge of finding a suitable replacement to maintain the team’s defensive success.
