Breaking news: Legendary NASCAR figure apologizes for controversial acts at Daytona International Speedway

Renowned and veteran race car owner Chip Ganassi has issued an apology following an unfortunate incident where he unintentionally ran over and killed a puppy belonging to driver Devlin DeFrancesco just before the start of the Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway over the weekend.

Reports indicate that the incident occurred in the area where drivers park their motor homes at the speedway. Ganassi expressed deep regret over the incident in a post on X, formerly Twitter, stating, “The accident the other night with Devlin DeFrancesco’s dog was so unfortunate. I not only feel terrible about it, but I also feel terrible for Devlin, Katie, and the DeFrancesco kids. On behalf of their dog Lucky and the DeFrancesco family, I am making a generous donation to the Indianapolis Humane Society.”

DeFrancesco acknowledged Ganassi’s apology on X, expressing gratitude, “I want to personally thank (Chip Ganassi) for his apology to myself, my parents, my siblings, and Katie. Nothing will be able to bring Lucky back or make the pain go away, but I would also like to say thank you to Chip for his donation to the Humane Society of Indianapolis. In support of other dogs/puppies in a city that is so important to me, where I spend a lot of my time doing what I love with great people.”

Despite the heavy heart caused by the incident, DeFrancesco managed to drive to a 16th-place finish in the Rolex 24.
