Once again, the Buffalo Bills concluded the season with disappointment, coming so close to defeating the Kansas City Chiefs. Unfortunately, their attempt at a game-tying field goal veered wide, bringing an end to their campaign.

Stefon Diggs #14 of the Buffalo Bills looks on before a game against the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium on October 22, 2023 in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

This outcome prompts renewed speculation about Stefon Diggs’ future with the team. Diggs initially garnered attention for negative reasons at the start of the season, reportedly leaving the team’s facilities in frustration and criticizing the organization. Later in the season, he took a diminished role, attributing his decreased production to changes in offensive play-calling and facing double teams.

Despite the decline in his performance and documented character concerns, team legend Andre Reed remains adamant that the team requires Diggs to overcome obstacles. In an interview with TMZ Sports, the former wide receiver suggested that Diggs might be willing to accept a reduced salary to stay with the organization for an extended period.

Reed expressed, “If anything, they’ll ask him to do that to save cap space to bring some more guys in. Whether Stefon does that or not, I think he realizes where he is and what kind of team he’s on. And, I can see him staying there.”

Reed emphasizes the team’s need to bolster its roster by bringing in additional players. The team faces challenges in terms of salary cap constraints, and the upcoming season will see Josh Allen’s cap hit increase.

While Reed is uncertain about whether Diggs will agree to a pay cut to assist the team, he expresses confidence that such a scenario could unfold. However, if Diggs does not take a salary reduction, it wouldn’t be surprising to witness General Manager Brandon Beane exploring the possibility of parting ways with him during the offseason. This move would be aimed at assembling more depth around Allen and adapting to the changes in Joe Brady’s new offensive scheme.
