With the arrival of a fresh coaching staff, there comes a shift in dynamics, strategies, and preferences. The Falcons will need to address multiple vacancies in their roster, aligning their acquisitions with Zac Robinson’s offensive approach and Raheem Morris and Jimmy Lakes’ defensive strategies. Concurrently, Arthur Smith is expected to draw upon his existing connections in Atlanta as he takes on the role of offensive coordinator for the Steelers.

Here are potential free agents who may choose to join their former head coach in Pittsburgh:

Mack Hollins

The focus on offensive free agent candidates is a direct result of Smith’s role as the offensive coordinator. Among these candidates, Mack Hollins, along with all the impending free agent wide receivers from the Falcons, emerges as potential options. Despite Hollins being on the older side of 30, his valuable blocking skills could capture the interest of Mike Tomlin, who appreciates hard-nosed football players.

Hollins showcased his best performance in the season prior to joining the Falcons, amassing nearly 700 yards and four touchdowns with the Raiders in 2022. However, his production dipped with only 18 receptions in 2024. Nevertheless, considering his affordability, Hollins could be a cost-effective addition in free agency.

Keith Smith

Similar to the pursuit of a robust wide receiver, the Steelers should consider targeting a fullback in the free agent market. The Falcons, under Zac Robinson, may not have a requirement for a traditional fullback, but Arthur Smith has consistently demonstrated a preference for employing one. Despite Smith’s stint on the injured reserve in 2023, his coaching style has heavily relied on the presence of a traditional fullback throughout his career.

Van Jefferson

The Steelers currently boast a solid tight end unit, but there is room for enhancement in their wide receiver corps. Diontae Johnson and George Pickens are expected to lead the group, with Allen Robinson potentially facing release due to salary cap considerations. Van Jefferson, who experienced a breakout season in 2021 with the Rams, could be a valuable addition. In that remarkable campaign, he secured 50 catches for over 800 yards and six touchdowns. Distinct from Mack Hollins, Jefferson possesses the ability to stretch the field and challenge defenses vertically, making him an enticing prospect for the Steelers.

Scotty Miller

Similar sentiments expressed for Jefferson apply to Miller as well. The speedy receiver has the capability to stretch the field and create opportunities underneath. Miller’s skill set could be appealing to the Steelers, offering another dynamic option to open up the passing game. Additionally, there might be interest from the Falcons in retaining Miller, considering his potential contributions to their offensive strategy.
