DONE DEAL: Hafley Hired Packers Defensive key man

In Green Bay, the new defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley is set to introduce a fresh strategy along with a cadre of new assistant coaches to execute it. With his background and coaching experience at Boston College, it’s evident that Hafley will implement a 4-3 defense, a departure from the Packers’ previous 3-4 scheme under Dom Capers since 2009. Following this shift, defensive line coach Jerry Montgomery, inside linebackers coach Kirk Olivadotti, and cornerbacks coach/defensive pass-game coordinator Greg Williams have all departed. Despite not being active in the NFL since 2018, Hafley swiftly filled the coaching vacancies.

Here’s the current coaching lineup, with one significant position still to be filled:

Defensive Line – Jason Rebrovich: Rebrovich, who previously coached outside linebackers and served as a pass-rush specialist, will now lead the defensive line. While overseeing the entire defensive line, his primary focus will be on the defensive ends such as Rashan Gary, Preston Smith, and Lukas Van Ness.

Assistant Defensive Line – Vince Oghobaase: Oghobaase steps in to replace Jerry Montgomery and will likely concentrate on interior linemen like Kenny Clark and Devonte Wyatt, complementing Rebrovich’s role.

Linebackers – Anthony Campanile: Campanile, known for his passion, was a contender for the coordinator position with the Giants. However, he ended up coaching linebackers in Green Bay after former Packers defensive coordinator Joe Barry joined the Dolphins. Campanile takes over from Kirk Olovadotti, who reportedly accepted a position in Seattle.
