The New England Patriots have announced the signing of wide receiver Kawaan Baker to a futures contract. Baker, aged 25, initially joined the NFL as the 255th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints, coming from South Alabama.
Standing at 6 feet 1 inch and weighing 210 pounds, he began his rookie season on the practice squad but was later elevated to the active roster for two games, participating in special teams against Miami on December 27, 2021, and Carolina on January 2, 2022, where he made a special teams tackle against the Dolphins. After going through training camp with the Saints in 2022, Baker was released on October 17 due to an NFL suspension. He subsequently spent time on the practice squad of the Green Bay Packers before returning to New Orleans, where he was signed to the practice squad on December 27, 2022. Baker also participated in training camp with the Saints last summer but was released before the regular season commenced.
