Breaking news: Steelers Hire New Offensive Assistant

The Pittsburgh Steelers have revealed the addition of three new coaches to their offensive staff. They’ve brought on board Tom Arth, Zach Azzanni, and Mateo Kambui. Arth will take on the role of quarterbacks coach, while Azzanni will serve as the wide receivers coach. Kambui will be joining as an offensive assistant.

Arth’s NFL coaching journey began in 2022 with the Chargers, where he specialized in the pass game. Prior to that, he held head coaching positions at Akron (2019-2021), Chattanooga (2017-2018), and John Carroll (2013-2016) at the collegiate level.

Azzanni brings a wealth of experience, having worked with teams such as the Jets, Chicago Bears (2018), and Denver Broncos (2018-2022) in the NFL. He also held roles as a passing game coordinator at Florida in 2010 and Tennessee from 2015 to 2016. Additionally, he served as the offensive coordinator at Western Kentucky in 2011 and assistant head coach at Central Michigan from 2007 to 2009.

Kambui arrives from Atlanta, where he collaborated with the Steelers’ new offensive coordinator, Arthur Smith, as the assistant offensive line coach in 2023. Prior to his tenure with the Falcons, he was part of the Marlin Briscoe Coaching Fellowship with the Denver Broncos (2021-2022), contributing to scouting and coaching wide receivers.

The Steelers are still in the process of hiring new strength and conditioning coaches, and there’s uncertainty surrounding the future of former quarterbacks coach Mike Sullivan, with reports suggesting efforts are being made to retain him.
