BREAKING: 3 Raptors key players face uncertain roles after trade deadline

The Toronto Raptors find themselves in a period of transition, having traded away Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby this season to embrace a full-scale rebuild after years of holding onto key roster pieces. This has left them with a roster featuring a few solid long-term assets but plenty of flexibility. Scottie Barnes stands out as a promising future star, likely the only player management deems untouchable. Among the remaining Raptors players, three individuals stand out as prime candidates for potential role adjustments for the remainder of the season.

Chris Boucher

Chris Boucher, who hasn’t been heavily involved in the Raptors’ rotation, is currently averaging just 14.0 minutes per game, placing him 17th among all players who have played for Toronto this season. In the lead-up to Monday night’s game against San Antonio, Boucher has been sidelined, not seeing any action in the last three games, including the most recent one against New Orleans a week ago. With his limited playing time already, it’s possible he may continue to be a spectator from the bench for the remainder of the season.

Boucher’s performance has either plateaued or declined in several key statistical areas since his impressive 2020-21 season, where he finished sixth in Most Improved Player voting. The uncertainty surrounding his future role with the Raptors looms large.
