Bo Jackson, the renowned former Las Vegas Raiders player and Auburn football icon, has triumphed in a legal battle against his niece and nephew. They attempted to blackmail the ex-NFL and MLB luminary. Remembered for the famous slogan “Bo knows” during the pinnacle of his fame, Bo Jackson has demonstrated that his understanding extends beyond just sports, as he has prevailed in a recent legal dispute.
In a civil lawsuit concluded last week, Bo Jackson emerged victorious against his niece, Erica M. Anderson Ross, and nephew, Thomas Lee Anderson. The verdict awarded him a substantial $21 million in damages. Additionally, the court mandated that the Anderson siblings maintain a distance of at least 500 yards from Jackson and remove any social media content pertaining to him or his immediate family.
Relatives tried to extort former Las Vegas Raiders and Kansas City Royals star of $20 million
In a lawsuit filed last April, it was alleged that the Andersons resorted to harassment and intimidation tactics in an attempt to extort $20 million from the 61-year-old Bo Jackson. These incidents of harassment and intimidation date back to 2022.
According to Jackson’s claims, his niece and nephew reached out to him and his immediate family through various social media platforms and direct messages over the past two years. They allegedly threatened to expose damaging allegations against their uncle, intending to tarnish his reputation. Furthermore, the suit asserted that they planned to disclose private details with the aim of causing him significant emotional distress.
The Anderson siblings also purportedly threatened to show up at locations near Jackson’s residence to intimidate and harass him, as well as to disrupt a charity event he was organizing. Despite receiving a cease and desist letter from Jackson’s legal team, the Andersons’ intimidation tactics persisted.
Superior Court Judge Jason D. Marbutt, in his ruling, noted that there was evidence suggesting that the Andersons’ attorney implied their behavior would stop if they were paid $20 million.
In response to the verdict, Jackson’s attorneys stated in a news release on Monday that despite attempts to extort $20 million from Jackson and his family, Jackson remains resilient and ready to defend himself.
Bo Jackson gained fame as a standout athlete for the Auburn Tigers in two sports. He later achieved stardom as an elite player for the Raiders and the Royals, though his career was hindered by a knee injury, which ultimately limited his athleticism and relegated him primarily to baseball.
