The Atlanta Falcons’ new head coach, Raheem Morris, is nearing completion of his coaching staff, and he’s just secured a crucial addition. According to 247Sports, the Falcons are set to bring on John Griffin, currently the associate director of strength and conditioning for the Los Angeles Rams, to take on a lead role in strength and conditioning.
Griffin, aged 35, has a history of working alongside Morris during Morris’s tenure with the Rams. Starting as an assistant strength and conditioning coach in 2021, Griffin earned a promotion last offseason. Given Morris’s recruitment of several Rams assistants to Atlanta, Griffin seamlessly integrates into the team.
Before his time with the Rams, Griffin gained experience in strength and conditioning roles at Baylor and South Carolina. In his collegiate playing days, Griffin attended both Northeastern and Massachusetts. While he had brief stints in the NFL with the Cincinnati Bengals and the New York Jets, his primary on-field action occurred as a special teams player with the Jets in 2012. Additionally, Griffin had a later playing stint with the Omaha Mammoths of the Fall Experimental Football League in 2014.
