The journey across Western Australia is aimed at discovering talented female athletes and football players aged 15 and above, who show promise in an elite football setting and have the potential to secure a spot on an AFLW team roster.
The presence of current AFLW players from various clubs who were recruited through past AFLW talent searches, such as Sophie McDonald (West Coast), Eleanor Hartill (Brisbane), and Charli Wickstead (Richmond), underscores the success of these initiatives.
Chad Morrison, the Academies Coordinator, emphasized the noticeable improvement seen across the board since the inaugural AFLW talent search in 2018.
“The progress in the development of these girls over the past few years is truly inspiring; each talent search seems to yield better results than the last.
“It’s crucial to reach out to all our regions and provide these girls with the opportunity to participate in testing and be part of the talent search process, assessing their football skills and linking them back to our Perth-based club.
“There’s a wealth of skills from various sports that can translate to football, and the potential outcomes are unpredictable. We’ve witnessed remarkable success stories from previous talent searches, so I encourage everyone to join us, give it a try, and enjoy the experience.”
