LSU football standout Trey Holly maintains his innocence unequivocally, following his arrest on charges of attempted second-degree murder in connection to a shooting incident in Louisiana. Alongside two others, Holly was taken into custody regarding the events of February 9, during which a man was wounded in the leg and a woman sustained critical injuries from three gunshot wounds.
Additional to the attempted murder charge, Holly faces allegations of aggravated criminal damage to property and illegal use of a weapon. In a statement shared on social media, the freshman athlete asserted his innocence, portraying himself as an innocent bystander ensnared in the unfortunate occurrence. He emphasized that the accusations do not align with his character and clarified that he was present at home when the incident unfolded. Holly voluntarily surrendered upon being informed of an arrest warrant, expressing his readiness to cooperate fully with authorities, albeit limited by the ongoing investigation.
While expressing regret for any confusion among his supporters, Holly assured them of his determination to rebound and vindicate himself. He extended gratitude to those who continue to support him during this challenging period, affirming his confidence in eventual exoneration. Holly turned himself in the previous week and is currently being held on a bond set at $512,000. Pending the resolution of the legal proceedings, he has been suspended from participating in the LSU football program.
