Vikings re-sign another 25-years old key man

The Minnesota Vikings have quietly made their initial move in the 2024 free agency period by re-signing safety Theo Jackson, although the details of the contract remain undisclosed.

Theo Jackson

Jackson, previously mentioned as one of the Exclusive Rights Free Agents, required only a qualifying offer from the Vikings to retain him, but it appears they’ve gone further than that.

Originally drafted in the seventh round by the Tennessee Titans in 2022 from the University of Tennessee, Jackson was released by the Titans and subsequently picked up by the Vikings from their practice squad in October. He mainly contributed on special teams, featuring in 11 games during the past season.

Jackson notably secured the Vikings’ first turnover of the 2023 season with an interception against Jalen Hurts in Week 2’s loss to Philadelphia. In total, he appeared in 15 games for the team in the previous season.

With uncertainty surrounding Harrison Smith’s future, Jackson stands a good chance of assuming a more significant role in the defense as the third safety behind Camryn Bynum and Josh Metellus.

While not the most headline-grabbing signing, it marks a solid beginning to free agency for the Vikings.

Welcome (back) to Minnesota, Theo!
