Tonight, the Memphis Grizzlies are up against the Western Conference’s top team, the Timberwolves, who fortunately for Memphis, are playing their second game in as many nights.
Injury concerns loom large for the Grizzlies with seven players on the sidelines: Ja Morant, Desmond Bane, Brandon Clarke, Luke Kennard, John Konchar, Scotty Pippen Jr., and Marcus Smart. Morant is out due to a shoulder injury, Bane due to an ankle issue, Clarke due to Achilles tendon repair, Kennard due to illness, Konchar doubtful with a thumb sprain, Pippen Jr. due to a back problem, and Smart due to a finger injury.
On the Timberwolves’ side, Anthony Edwards, Rudy Gobert, Kyle Anderson, Jaylen Clark, and Leonard Miller are on the injury list, with Edwards and Gobert questionable and the other three ruled out.
Reflecting on their playoff matchup two years ago, where the Grizzlies and Timberwolves met as the 2nd and 7th seeds respectively, the tables have turned drastically. Presently, Memphis finds itself hampered by injuries and languishing in the 13th seed, while the Timberwolves have dominated the conference as the top seed for much of the season.
The clash between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Memphis Grizzlies is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. EST tonight.
