Breaking news: Miami defensive lineman standout, Star Player III, underwent initial series today at NFL Combine

A promising talent from Miami recently completed his inaugural day at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, eagerly anticipating his selection in April’s draft.

Leonard Taylor III, a defensive lineman from Miami, underwent his initial set of drills and assessments at the NFL Combine, seizing the opportunity to demonstrate his athletic prowess to scouts.

Regrettably, Taylor’s performance fell short of expectations, lacking the wow factor during today’s drills, with the bench press looming tomorrow. According to NFL Next Gen Stats, he ranked 15th among defensive tackles based on his athleticism score from today’s exercises. His statistics were as follows:

40-Yard Dash: 5.12 seconds

10-Yard Split: 1.76 seconds

Vertical Leap: 30″

Broad Jump: 9’1″

3-Cone Drill: 7.81 seconds

Despite his current performance, Taylor still holds considerable potential as a prospect. He earned a prestigious five-star recruit ranking upon graduating from high school and has showcased glimpses of brilliance throughout his tenure at Miami.

His standout season occurred during his sophomore year in 2022, where he amassed impressive stats including 24 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, and even secured an interception.

Keep an eye on AllHurricanes throughout the week for updates as Taylor continues to participate in the NFL Draft Combine, including the upcoming bench press drill, along with other Hurricanes prospects.
