Former Ohio State tight end Sam Hart declared on Friday his intention to join the University of Colorado in Boulder. This three-star recruit, originally from Colorado, has solidified his return home by committing to the Buffs, becoming the latest addition to Coach Prime’s team. Standing at 6 feet 5 inches and weighing 255 pounds, Hart, who hails from Cherokee Trail, concluded his third season with OSU.
He boasts an impressive athletic background, excelling not only in football but also in wrestling, where he maintained an undefeated record of 38-0 in the 200 lbs class during his senior year.

Having participated in five games in 2022, including the College Football Playoff loss against Georgia, Hart now becomes CU’s 25th transfer player ahead of the 2024 season. Among these transfers, he is one of two tight ends, alongside Cincinnati’s four-star recruit Chamon Metayer. This addition strengthens the Buffs’ roster, providing depth to fill the void left by Michael Harrison’s departure. Harrison, a versatile player, significantly contributed as one of the primary targets for Shedeur Sanders, making crucial plays when needed. Hart’s decision to join CU aligns with former offensive coordinator Sean Lewis, who has transitioned to the head coaching position at San Diego State.
Colorado is set to kick off Spring Practices on Monday, March 18, marking the first opportunity to witness the Buffs’ latest recruits in action on the field, executing scripted plays. The anticipation builds toward the Black and Gold Spring Game scheduled for April 27, with details regarding timing and TV coverage yet to be announced.
