Shohei Ohtani has commenced his inaugural season with the Los Angeles Dodgers, debuting against the San Diego Padres in Seoul, South Korea, on Wednesday. Ohtani, who secured a $700 million contract with the Dodgers during the offseason, initiated his performance with a groundout in his initial at-bat for his new team.
Subsequently, in the third inning, he notched his first hit of the season by delivering a single to right field off Yu Darvish. Ohtani’s presence was further accentuated by the presence of his wife, Mamiko Tanaka, who attended the game and expressed delight in witnessing her husband’s inaugural hit as a Dodgers player.
