BREAKING NEWS: Talented key man Defends Controversial Ohio State QB Transfer

CJ Stroud, the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and former standout quarterback from Ohio State, isn’t known for being vocal with the media or seeking attention. Instead, he tends to focus on his work and then quietly retreats. Some may even interpret his calm and reserved nature as a lack of passion or investment in his endeavors.

However, on Wednesday, he broke from this pattern. During an interview with reporters after the Ohio State NFL Pro Day, Stroud expressed candid and assertive thoughts regarding the departure of former starting quarterback Kyle McCord.

CJ Stroud Supports Kyle McCords Decision to Leave

Following his departure from OSU, Kyle McCord faced significant criticism. Speculations arose, suggesting that he may have left due to concerns about leading the Buckeyes to victory over Michigan, feeling overwhelmed by the pressure in Columbus, or fearing potential competition for the quarterback position had he stayed for his final year of eligibility.

Despite the various reasons speculated for McCord’s departure, CJ Stroud revealed that he had a conversation with McCord and offered his support for his decision. Stroud shared the following sentiments:

McCord Left Ohio State For Guarantees

McCord, who served as Stroud’s backup during his final year at Ohio State, made the decision to enter the transfer portal early on, sparking speculation about potential landing spots such as Alabama, Oklahoma, or even rival Michigan. Surprisingly, he chose Syracuse, a team with a limited record of success over the past decade.

Despite Syracuse’s lackluster recent performance, it’s anticipated that McCord will benefit from significant NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) compensation and face no competition for the starting quarterback position—two assurances he sought but didn’t receive at Ohio State under Ryan Day. While this move might suggest a departure on unfavorable terms, it could be viewed as a strategic investment in his NFL aspirations and personal brand, even if it raises eyebrows initially.
