Bo Bichette, the shortstop for the Toronto Blue Jays, was unexpectedly removed from Sunday’s game against Tampa Bay due to neck spasms. Ernie Clement stepped in to take his place. Bichette, who was an All-Star in 2023, had a batting average of .167 with two RBIs from his two hits in 12 at-bats over the first three games of the season.
Justin Turner filled Bichette’s spot in the lineup, batting third. Kevin Gausman, the team’s ace whose spring training debut was delayed until March 25 due to shoulder fatigue, made his first start.
