“Firstly, I want to express my gratitude to God for granting me the opportunity to play this sport and potentially advance to the next level,” Williams stated. “The University of Texas has been incredibly supportive, and I am thankful for their kindness. However, I’ve made the decision to withdraw my commitment from the University of Texas. My recruitment process is now open again.”

Standing at 6’3 and weighing 190 pounds, Williams initially picked Texas on New Year’s Day over other finalists such as Auburn, Baylor, Notre Dame, and Oregon. Additionally, he received offers from schools like Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas, Nebraska, Ole Miss, TCU, and Texas Tech. Williams received an offer from the Longhorns in July and visited them multiple times during his recruitment.

“The coaches were a significant factor in my decision,” Williams explained when asked why he chose Texas initially. “People often talk about the school’s excellence and the football team, but for me, the coaches stood out the most. Despite my main contact, coach (Jeff) Choate, leaving, I still maintain strong relationships with the coaching staff, which is why they were so appealing to me.”

Williams is now back to being uncommitted, with plans to officially visit TCU on June 20th.

As a consensus three-star prospect, Williams is ranked as the 533rd nationally and the 59th among linebackers, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
