The Miami Dolphins are set to sign defensive tackle Teair Tart to a one-year deal, as per a source familiar with the negotiations, who spoke anonymously to The Associated Press on Friday pending an official announcement.
Tart, who started nine games for the Titans in 2023, registering 21 tackles, eight tackles for loss, and a sack, was waived in December. He then played two games for the Houston Texans, making three tackles after being claimed off waivers.
Originally not selected in the NFL draft in 2020, Tart, a Florida International alum, has accumulated 79 tackles, 2 1/2 sacks, and 14 quarterback hits throughout his career. He spent his first four seasons with the Tennessee Titans.
Tart is among the defensive acquisitions made by the Dolphins this offseason, alongside Benito Jones, Neville Gallimore, Jonathan Harris, Shaquil Barrett, Anthony Walker Jr., Kendall Fuller, and Jordan Poyer.
