Following his designation for assignment earlier this week, the Pittsburgh Pirates have completed a trade, sending right-handed pitcher Colin Selby to the Kansas City Royals. In return, the Pirates have received left-handed pitching prospect Connor Oliver.
Selby’s DFA move was necessitated by the acquisition of Joey Bart from the San Francisco Giants, requiring roster space adjustments.

Having made his major-league debut last season with the Pirates, Selby appeared in 21 games, posting a 2-2 record with a 9.00 ERA and recording 30 strikeouts across 24 innings pitched.
