Ohio State completed their spring practices and spring game last week, and once spring ball wraps up, the spring transfer window begins.
Ohio State Lost A Four Star Recruit This Week
Ohio State boasts one of the top rosters in college football, which means many players who won’t see much action must choose between staying and waiting or entering the transfer portal to seek playing time elsewhere. This week, Ohio State defensive back Cedrick Hawkins decided that staying in Columbus wasn’t the right choice for him and entered the portal.
Hawkins Is Heading To The Big 12
As per Hayes Fawcett from On3.com, Hawkins has committed to UCF. A four-star safety in high school last year, Hawkins still has four years of eligibility remaining.

UCF Could Takeover The New Big 12
UCF joined the Big 12 last season, and they have a strong chance of becoming a serious contender in the conference for years to come. With the Big 12 losing Texas and Oklahoma to the SEC this summer, and gaining Arizona, Arizona State, Utah, and Colorado, the landscape is shifting. Utah has been a strong football team in recent years, so they won’t be an easy opponent, but UCF could be right up there with them.
It will be interesting to see if Hawkins gets playing time this season. Even if he doesn’t, he’s still very young with plenty of seasons ahead of him to make a name for himself.
