Major Miami transfer RB target star tweets 503 to 305

During his visit to the Miami football program on Thursday, Oregon State running back Damien Martinez hinted at his potential move with a post “503 to the 305?😮‍💨” on social media, holding a Hurricanes badge. Martinez’s official visit to Miami begins on Friday, though the Miami coaching staff already made two in-home visits with him earlier this week.

Before Miami, Martinez had visited Arizona and Mississippi. Next week, he’ll be hosted by Kentucky. Miami is the top choice for Martinez according to most opinions. During his two seasons at Oregon State, he gained 2,167 yards and scored 16 touchdowns while catching 11 passes for 126 yards.

As of late Thursday, Martinez was the third-highest-rated player in the transfer portal and the 34th-rated transfer overall for 2024. Miami is hosting a significant weekend for transfers, with Houston wide receiver Sam Brown reportedly visiting as well.

If both Brown and Martinez join, it would bolster the lineup with more dynamic players for quarterback Cam Ward, who transferred from Washington State in January. Miami is in need of depth and experience at both running back and wide receiver positions after losing Tre’Vonte Citizen and Henry Parrish to transfers following spring practice.

Martinez seems calm as he anticipates the pivotal weekend ahead. Ward has established himself as a leader during his three months at Coral Gables. The rapport Ward builds with Brown and Martinez this weekend will play a crucial role in their decisions. Pairing Brown and Martinez with Ward, along with wide receivers Jacolby George and Xavier Restrepo, could make Miami’s offense explosive.

In addition to Martinez and Brown, transfers Jaylin Alderman from Louisville and Dyoni Hill from Marshall are also visiting Miami this weekend. Miami may secure commitments from several of these transfers within the next week. Currently, Miami has the 35th-ranked transfer class, but that ranking is expected to rise significantly soon.
