Former Oregon Ducks quarterback Bo Nix was chosen by the Denver Broncos as the 12th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft on Thursday. Nix, who had an impressive 2023 season culminating in a Pac-12 Championship and a Fiesta Bowl win, ended his two-year stint at Eugene. He was the sixth quarterback to be selected in the draft.
Nix leaves Oregon with a stellar reputation, boasting the highest completion percentage in NCAA history at 77.45% in 2023. During his time at Autzen Stadium, he threw for 8,101 yards, 74 touchdowns, and only 10 interceptions. He earned the title of 2023 Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year and holds the Ducks’ record for most passing touchdowns. As a Heisman Trophy finalist, he’s in the same league as Marcus Mariota and Justin Herbert in recent Oregon football history.
Now, he’s moving on to his rookie season with the Denver Broncos, where Oregon fans will be watching closely. The Broncos currently have quarterbacks Zach Wilson, Jarret Stitham, and Ben DiNucci on their roster. Nix will be competing for a spot from the start, and whether he can replicate his success in Eugene remains to be seen.
