On August 28, 2006, the Dodgers achieved a remarkable feat in Major League Baseball, which is considered one of the rarest, comparable only to pitching a perfect game. During that memorable game at Dodger Stadium, with a crowd of 44,176, Grady Little’s Dodgers managed to avoid any strikeouts in their 39 plate appearances, securing a 6-5 victory against The Big Red Machine. What makes this accomplishment even more impressive is that it occurred before the introduction of the designated hitter rule in the National League, requiring pitchers Brad Penny and Elmer Dessens to bat for themselves.

Fast forward to Monday night’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field, with a crowd of 36,985, Dave Roberts’ Dodgers replicated this extraordinary feat, achieving zero strikeouts in their combined 34 plate appearances. This marked only the second time in over 17 seasons that such an achievement had been accomplished.

By achieving this feat, the Dodgers made history as the initial Major League team this season to complete a game without any strikeouts. Roberts described it as an outstanding display of offensive prowess in his postgame remarks.

Regarding the eight runs scored, Andy Pages, who has been performing exceptionally well lately, contributed three of them during his 2-for-4 performance. This included an RBI sacrifice fly to center field in the second inning and a two-run double to left field in the fifth inning.

Additionally, Dodgers’ right fielder Teoscar Hernández also contributed with a two-run double during the productive four-run fifth inning.

Also, Dodgers catcher Will Smith added to the offensive showcase by hitting his second home run of the season, a 407-foot solo blast to (almost) dead center field in the sixth inning, extending the Dodgers’ lead to 7-4.
