Breaking news: Pitt Land new talented player from Transfer

The Pitt Panthers are in contention with a traditional powerhouse from the ACC as they seek to secure the commitment of a promising local talent returning home after a stint at Kentucky.

As per a report by Jamie Shaw of On3, Pitt and North Carolina are the primary contenders in the race to recruit Adou Theiro, a native of Western Pennsylvania who spent the previous season at Kentucky. The decision appears to be between these two programs, with Theiro, hailing from the Pittsburgh area, having averaged 7.2 points and 5.0 rebounds in 19 starts for Kentucky last season. While details of the recruitment process have been relatively quiet, observers are advised to monitor any updates regarding visits or a potential commitment timeline.

Theiro recently visited Pittsburgh and met with North Carolina’s head coach Hubert Davis in Lexington, Kentucky. Other potential options for Theiro post-season included NC State, Ohio State, Gonzaga, Texas A&M, Arizona, Indiana, and the NBA Draft.

Initially committing to the Wildcats as a consensus three-star recruit out of Quaker Valley High School in the class of 2022, Theiro demonstrated solid performance, averaging 7.2 points and 5 rebounds per game while shooting 49% from the field and 32% from 3-point range last season.
