The Los Angeles Chargers may still be looking to enhance their wide receiver group. Despite drafting three wide receivers last week and signing D.J. Chark last Thursday, the Chargers are planning to meet with two-time Super Bowl champion wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling on Monday, according to Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team.

Valdes-Scantling, who recently became a free agent after spending the last two seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, contributed to their back-to-back Super Bowl victories. Prior to that, he played for the Green Bay Packers from 2018 to 2021.
Standing at 6-foot-4, the wide receiver had his least productive season in 2023, recording career lows with 21 catches for 315 yards and one touchdown. However, he did perform better in the postseason, making eight receptions for 128 yards and securing a touchdown in the Super Bowl. Throughout his six-year NFL career, Valdes-Scantling has accumulated 186 catches for 3,155 yards and 16 touchdowns.
Valdes-Scantling is known for his speed, demonstrated by his 4.37-second 40-yard dash prior to being drafted, which makes him a potential deep threat. However, he has struggled with drops recently, missing opportunities for significant gains and touchdowns.
Following the departure of veteran receivers Mike Williams and Keenan Allen in the offseason, the Chargers’ general manager expressed their intention to bolster the receiving corps through both the draft and free agency. They have started to fulfill this plan by drafting Ladd McConkey, Brenden Rice, and Cornelius Johnson, as well as signing Chark. The Chargers are continuing to explore options by hosting Valdes-Scantling for a visit, even if they ultimately decide not to sign him.
