Breaking news: Amidst the pressure Beveridge affected by the criticism

Facing intense scrutiny, Western Bulldogs head coach Luke Beveridge addressed the media on Thursday, asserting his apparent detachment from the mounting pressure.

Beveridge has been under increasing scrutiny in recent weeks due to the Bulldogs’ lackluster form, having only secured three victories this season. With high expectations following previous successes and a strong team roster, the Bulldogs’ failure to make finals last year was a significant disappointment.

During the press conference, Beveridge was asked about the pressure, to which he promptly replied that he doesn’t feel it.

“I’m probably blind or oblivious to (criticism) a little bit,” he stated.

The Bulldogs’ recent loss to the Hawks left them with a record of 3-5, marking their fourth loss in five games.

“The pressure’s always there. I don’t feel it any less or any more,” Beveridge commented.

“I don’t tend to worry about it too much these days. It’s just really important that I don’t pay much attention to that.”

Beveridge emphasized the importance of focusing on internal opinions and scrutiny within the football club, rather than external pressures.

Regarding the impact on the players, Beveridge acknowledged that they are affected by external noise but emphasized the need for the club to be a safe haven where players feel supported and valued.

The Bulldogs opted for a change of routine this week, heading to St Kilda Sea Baths instead of their usual review session.

Their upcoming match against the Tigers at the MCG is crucial for both the team and Beveridge. Failure to secure a win could raise serious questions about Beveridge’s position as head coach.

Despite this, club president Kylie Watson-Wheeler stressed the need to avoid panic and premature decisions regarding coaches, though the situation may change if the Bulldogs’ record doesn’t improve.
