Kansas City Chiefs offensive linemen Wanya Morris and Chukwuebuka Godrick were arrested for marijuana possession on Thursday in Johnson County, Kansas.
According to Ladd, both Morris and Godrick have been released from custody. Harold Kuntz from Kansas City’s Fox 4 reported that they posted a $2,500 bond.
This arrest adds to a challenging offseason for the Chiefs from a public relations perspective. Second-year wide receiver Rashee Rice is uncertain for the season’s start due to felony charges from a car crash in March and may face additional legal issues due to an alleged assault earlier this month.
While Morris and Godrick’s charges are less serious, they might still be subject to the NFL’s Personal Conduct Policy.
Morris, entering his second season, was a third-round pick who started four games at left tackle during his rookie year. He is set to compete with rookie Kingsley Suamataia for the position in 2024.
Godrick, originally from Nigeria, spent 2023 on the Chiefs’ practice squad through the league’s International Pathway Program. He continues to be with the team under a roster exemption for international players.
