On Saturday, the Minnesota Twins brought outfielder Byron Buxton back into action from his 10-day stint on the injured list, while simultaneously sending utility player Austin Martin down to Triple-A Saint Paul.
Buxton, aged 30, was sidelined for 14 games due to inflammation in his knee. During his recovery, he participated in two games with Triple-A St. Paul, though he didn’t manage any hits in six at-bats but did secure an RBI.
Before his injury, in the initial 28 games of the season, Buxton had a batting average of .250, tallying eight doubles, one home run, and 11 RBIs. As a long-standing member of the Twins for a decade now, Buxton has played 698 games, showcasing his skills as a former All-Star and Gold Glove recipient, boasting a career average of .239 alongside 138 doubles, 116 homers, and 308 RBIs.
Martin, a newcomer at 25, had seen action in 30 games with the Twins, contributing one home run, six RBIs, scoring 19 runs, and stealing four bases so far this season.
