Breakout sensation Emoni Narawa, who made a significant impact in the 2023 season, has agreed to continue his journey with New Zealand Rugby and the Chiefs until 2026.
Emerging as a key player for the Waikato club in his debut year, the 24-year-old winger made waves in Super Rugby, earning a spot in the All Blacks squad. Despite facing setbacks due to injury, including leaving the Rugby World Cup early, Narawa bounced back this season, showcasing his scoring prowess with eight tries in seven matches.
Chiefs head coach Clayton McMillan praised Narawa’s growth and commitment, emphasizing his integral role both on and off the field. Narawa, who initially started his Super Rugby career with the Blues, credits his personal development, partly to the birth of his first child.
McMillan also highlighted the significance of Narawa’s young family in his rugby journey, recognizing their support and stability.
With Narawa’s contract extension, the Chiefs secure a formidable back three alongside Shaun Stevenson and Etene Nanai-Seturo, ensuring their strength in the upcoming Super Rugby Pacific season.
