The University of Louisville football program has secured another commitment from the transfer portal. Brandon Lane, a defensive lineman from Stephen F. Austin, visited U of L recently and has decided to join the Cardinals. Lane becomes the 28th transfer portal prospect to join the roster for fall camp, with seven of them specializing in defensive line or edge positions.
Standing at 6 feet 3 inches and weighing 300 pounds, Lane had been weighing his options, including considering Wisconsin and Michigan. He also had interest from NC State and other schools, garnering attention from around 30 institutions. Initially committing to Michigan State in late April, Lane reopened his recruitment and ultimately included U of L among his final four choices.
During his sophomore year at Stephen F. Austin, Lane demonstrated his skills with 44 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks. His talent attracted interest from nearly 30 schools since he entered the transfer portal. Lane originally belonged to South Dakota State’s class of 2020 but transferred to Stephen F. Austin before the 2022 season after limited playing time with the Jackrabbits.
