The University of Louisville announced another addition to their roster, marking the third of the day, and it’s a significant one.
Terrence Edwards, recognized as the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year from James Madison University, committed to the Cardinals in early April, shortly after entering the portal. This announcement came on Tuesday alongside transfers Reyne Smith and James Scott from Charleston. Edwards, affectionately known as ‘Fatt’, brings with him a wealth of experience and one season of eligibility.
Coach Pat Kelsey described Edwards as an ultimate competitor, prioritizing team success despite his individual accolades. Renowned for his versatility on the court, Edwards is hailed as a game-changer in various aspects. Kelsey emphasized Edwards’ toughness and winning mentality, qualities highly valued in Louisville.
During the past season, Edwards showcased his skills in 36 games, averaging 17.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game, with a three-point shooting percentage of 34.3.
Following his recognition as the Sun Belt Sixth Man of the Year in the previous season, the 6-foot-6, 190-pound wing from Atlanta elevated his status to the Sun Belt Player of the Year this season. His leadership guided James Madison University to a remarkable 32-win season, culminating in an NCAA tournament appearance, though they were eliminated by Duke in the second round.
Edwards’ tenure at James Madison spanned four seasons and 117 games, during which he amassed impressive statistics: 1,414 career points, 525 rebounds, 278 assists, and 111 steals, shooting at 46.2 percent from the field.
Prior to his time at James Madison, Edwards earned recognition as a Second Team All-AAAAAA selection at Tucker High School in Georgia, where he led his team to consecutive regional championships.
