Young Oilers fan who wasn’t allowed to bring drum into Rogers Place invited to Game 4

The young Edmonton Oilers supporter who initially faced restrictions bringing his drum to Rogers Place for Game 3 has now been extended an invitation to attend Wednesday night’s game along with his drum.

According to the boy’s sister, Sammy Paul, he had to relinquish his drum upon entry to the venue on Monday.

However, on Wednesday, the Oilers clarified that the drum was securely stored at the entrance and later retrieved by a family member.

“We have reached out to the family of the young fan and will be welcoming him back to the game tonight with his drum as our guests,” stated Oilers Entertainment Group president Stu Ballantyne in a released statement. “We apologize for any miscommunication that occurred and look forward to welcoming him and other Oilers faithful to Game 4.”

Ballantyne explained that while the Oilers typically enforce a policy regarding noise makers, this rule was relaxed for the playoffs, permitting pre-approved handheld drums for individuals like Superfan Magoo. Going forward in the playoffs, all fans will be permitted to bring drums as long as they are utilized respectfully towards fellow attendees.

Notably, Paul’s brother had the chance to meet Superfan Magoo on Tuesday and even got to handle his drum.

The Oilers are scheduled to face the Dallas Stars at 6:30 p.m. MT.
