The 30-year-old departed from the O’s after his contract ended and joined Burnley, a Premier League team that, like Orient, had recently secured promotion by winning their respective leagues.

So far, he hasn’t made any first-team appearances for Burnley and has only been on the bench a few times. The goalkeeper signed a three-year contract with the Clarets, suggesting that a loan deal is likely, according to Nixon.

What is The O’s current Goalkeeping Situation?

Currently, Leyton Orient has two contracted goalkeepers, Sam Howes and Rhys Byrne, following the end of Sol Brynn’s loan from Middlesbrough.

Last season, Howes made four appearances in League One, three of which were in August due to Sol’s injury. His only other appearance was on the final day of the season against Shrewsbury.

Rhys Byrne, who came through the academy, has yet to make a league appearance for the O’s. However, he has played a couple of matches in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy and spent the end of last season on loan at National League South side Dartford.

How did Vigouroux Perform Last Time At Leyton Orient?

Lawrence joined the O’s from Everton de Viña del Mar, where he did not make any appearances for the Chilean Primera Division team, on an initial 18-month contract. Afterward, he signed a two-year extension.

He made 152 appearances for Orient, conceding 153 goals and keeping 59 clean sheets. Lawrence was part of the defensive unit that set a club record for the best defensive performance in its history during their promotion in the 22/23 season, also achieving the best defense in the entire EFL that season.

During his time at the club, Vigouroux won several individual awards. He was named in the League Two Team of the Season for 22/23 and won the Golden Glove, which led to his move to Burnley. Additionally, he received three Leyton Orient Player of the Season awards.

Will a move prove beneficial to Vigouroux?

Lawrence was recently included in the provisional squad for Chile’s Copa America campaign. With Claudio Bravo and Gabriel Arias now aged 41 and 36 respectively, there may soon be opportunities for him to become the first-choice goalkeeper for his country, and he will want to be prominent in the National Team manager’s considerations.

Given his previous stint with Orient, he is likely to be the starting goalkeeper, once again demonstrating the skills that facilitated his progression up the ranks. If a transfer occurs, it would mark his first season at the League One level since the 2017/18 season with Swindon Town.
